How to practice Gratitude
More desire tends to more suffering. A desire to be richer, desire for a big house, a big car, a relationship. Desire can be financial, physical, emotional. When we don't get what we wish for than we feel sad or depressed.
There are so many other reasons for suffering it can be heartbreak, failure, unfulfilled dreams and so on. Everyone whether rich or poor, old or young suffer mostly due to their own deeds. We always wish for success but never ready for pains which is also part of that success.
You have the power to choose but why people choose to suffer for them. It sounds strange you might think no one chooses suffering, let me elaborate it. That's true you can’t control what is happening with you but if you have the right perspective or attitude you will suffer less.
Take an example of heartbreak. On one hand, you can criticize that person and yourself what you have done and feel lonely, depressed, destitute, isolated. At other hand you can be happy to get rid of that relationship which even not worth you. That person only using you for his benefit you are not a thing of enjoyment you are not a toy. It's far better being single than these kinds of relationships.
There are so many ways to counter suffering and Gratitude is one of them. 'Gratitude means thankfulness of what you have. Gratitude is an emotion expressing appreciation for what one has.'
“When you realize there is nothing lacking, the whole world belongs to you.” -Lao Tzu
It will be great to be thankful for our loved one's family, friends, colleagues, animals, nature and life in general. It generates emotions of positivity that reach inward and outward and even surround you. Yes that's true Gratitude is a temporary feeling but the researcher demonstrates that when you practice it over the time it becomes permanent and you start feeling a great amount of energy within you.
