Mental Health: How To Deal With Depression
One
more side of health is Mental Health that is what we ignore in day to day life.
We even don’t monitor problems like stress, mood swings, anxiety, and improper
sleep, etc… If you don’t take appropriate action on these issues sooner they
turn into mental disorder. You need to understand mental health is equally
important as physical health so kick your ash and start to take care of your
mental health.
Due to COVID-19 and lockdown effects people are suffering from mental stress, depression, and anxiety. I acknowledge it’s a hard time especially when the question on survival. But remember you are strong enough to tackle this well. This will pass soon and you will shine again. If you can see the positive side of these issues, you will realize nature wants to give a message for all humankind. Nature is healing itself now, look around you there are many things which are growing. The pollution level is decreasing. More important little shift in our lifestyles.
Depression
is a mental state of mind, a chain of negative emotion which impacts us very
badly loss of spirit, loss of energy, mood swings, loss of interest in daily
activities, long sadness. Possible causes of depression are biological,
psychological, and social distress. In general, as research shows two main
causes are Bad Relationships and Financial
instability. In the depression state, a person completely lost in a
different dimension of emotions. He is not aware of anything even in the worst
cases he underestimates himself severely and loses his hope of life and takes
suicidal attempts.
A
recent incident of the suicide of a renounced Bollywood star shocked the world.
Being rich or successful is not meaning that the person is mentally strong. Now
you understand how severe this is. Recover from depression is no cakewalk; it
is difficult but not impossible
Let’s
talk about how to deal with these situations.
We feed our bodies daily and take care so much same we need to feed our minds as well in order to get mentally strong. Observe your mind daily basis to understand what’s going on inside and take the necessary steps.
1. Change your attitude: Like the coin, every situation has two sides. May be stuck on one side and fall down in depression so try to see the other side which may be positive. If you have the right attitude you defiantly find something good. Attitude is a window to see the world if it is dirty, you probably not clearly see the other side. So make sure it is clean.
Accept the reality; say yes I am in depression so now what next? Let’s get out of this shit. You are not the only person who is going through these situations. Maybe this time I don’t know what to do but I’m strong enough to figure it out.
2. Practice Gratitude: Everyone has many good things or happy moments in life. Visualize those moments to break the chain of negative emotions. Gratitude in simple terms is thankful for what you have in your life because millions of people even don’t get 2 times meals in a day. The lifestyle you have is still a dream life for those people.
Relax and lie down on the bed and visualize the happiest moments with your family, friends, and other stuff. It’s a kind of daydreaming but powerful tool to get rid of current evil thoughts. Once you realize that you have a better life than you underestimate before you will start healing and a positive chain of emotion replaces the previous one.
3. Take a Gap: Whatever going on, leave it for some time. Divert yourself from the current situation until you are in the condition to resolve it. You can change your place, go and explore places you want to visit like a hill station, garden, etc… I suggest going to an open place like a hill or rooftop from where you can see the world and sky as well. Free yourself from all anxiety and emotions. See the world; you will realize you are a small entity of this universe. Feel that energy that connects every creature of the universe. Everyone has one’s own struggle and one needs to find ways to happiness. If you learn to smile even in the worst situations then you will be invincible.
Research shows and people agree with it, music is one of the best medications of stress. Music can reduce your stress by 70-80%. That’s amazing, isn’t it? You can do anything as your own interest.
4. Exercise,
Nutrition and Sleep: A lot of people will agree on this point,
as you all feel it works for everyone may be in different ways. Exercise or
physical activity improves blood circulation, triggers hormones like dopamine
that helps us to relax our mind. People who more physically active are less
affected by mental depression. Nutrition also plays a vital role in the human
system to run it for the long term smoothly. Make sure to include the right
food (rich protein, vitamins, fibers, and carbs).
Some people like to eat more food when they are tensed in order to handle depression and this work for them very effectively. But I suggest eating the right food, not junk food which destroys your physical health so make sure you are consuming healthy or natural food.
Insomnia is one of the major issues in depression. People couldn’t sleep well for a long time that is badly affected our whole body as well as mind. Our body cells are developed or repaired when we sleep. At least 6-7 hours of sound sleep is needed to curb depression. If you are suffering from insomnia you have to consult with a doctor or do physical activities that also improve your sleeping quality.
Find someone to talk: Communication is an important pillar of life. You can’t complete the life journey alone. You need to find someone who can support you, understand you. Generally, we all have a person with him we feel most comfortable sharing our thoughts. In depression, we lost our sense of right or wrong, and start treating ourselves as a victim. So we need counseling to understand the situation. The problem is like a hill for you may be another person can resolve it effortlessly.
Psychological research a show, sharing your problems with someone is enlightened you and make you optimistic. Sharing is Caring.
One
more point I want to consider, Self-assessment, one of the most powerful tools to get rid of shit. Assess
your thoughts or actions. Are they in
the right direction? How they help you to achieve your goals. If you well
planned your life considering loophole, there is less chance of falling in any
mental health disorder. This is your life and the only thing you possess, being
an owner you have to care about everything even what you feed
your body and mind as well.
