What is Self-Talks?

Humans are social animals and have a lot of relationships. All humans communicate with others to express ourselves. One of the most beautiful and underrated relationships is with yourself. You may notice how you communicate with yourself. That is to hear your inner voice. You often do this but have you ever noticed what kind of conversations you have with yourself? Or do you ignore it; never really give attention to that?
Are you wondering; what am I talking about? Only you can hear your inner voice. Just stop
and close your eyes and try to observe your thoughts which are running in your
head. Now you are aware of the concept of self-talk. Now questions are; why you
talk to yourself silently? How these self-talk affect your emotions and
mindset? More importantly, how you can more aware of what you are taking with
yourself?
Self-talk is the kind of conversation you have with
yourself in the form of thoughts that can be heard by only you. Sometimes we
all have a habit of speaking out loud with ourselves is also part of self-talk.
Most of the time, we didn’t pay attention to our self-talk. Even we don’t aware
much about them. It’s ridiculous that we know everything about the outside
world but don’t aware of what is running inside our head all time. Self-talks
include thinking about anything it may be your past, future, dreams, comments,
situation which happened to you, etc. you are a commentator of whatever
happening around you.
Self-talks reflect everything about you, your
thoughts, and your emotions. Self-talk isn’t random, it follows patterns
according to your characteristic which repeats over time. You have to
identify those patterns to understand. Now the question is how self-talk shapes
your life? Can we control them?
Self-talks can be categorized in two ways; the first
one is positive or constructive and the second one is negative or destructive
or harsh and critical. To understand this you have to listen to self-talks
carefully and find out areas where you have positive or negative self-talk. If
you find it negative, you can alter it by talking in different ways.
It’s important because negative self-talks cause you
anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, and so on. You lost the sense to improve
your life, even if there is something you could do. It has harmful impacts on
you as you start underestimate yourself, feel fear in everything that you can’t
do anything, or doubt your abilities. On other hand positive self-talks
connected to more happiness, confidence, joy, and being your own boss or
leadership. These are constructive and move you forward you to success by
unlocking tones of opportunities.
If you want to break the chain of negative self-talks then give it positive input, which has some kind of magical effect on your life. By making small changes, you can accomplish big success. You have to make little efforts to identity your self-talks patterns, for this, you have to observe your thoughts and write it down in two categories, true you can’t write them all but most common thoughts throughout a day can be written and do it 2-3 weeks. That’s enough to get an idea of what your self-talk patterns are in different situations.
